This free browser tool prepares batches of photos to meet amazon product image requirements as Amazon publishes them. Amazon’s help page, read on 16 October 2026, recommends JPEG, asks for at least 500 px and at most 10,000 px on the longest side, and enables zoom at 1,000 px or more. Its main image rules call for a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) with the product filling 85% of the frame. The default output of 2000 × 2000 px is our own choice, not an Amazon rule. The tool needs no sign-up, and it processes your photos in the page without uploading them. You can add up to 100 photos per batch.

How to use the Amazon product image requirements tool

  1. Click “Choose photos” or drop files onto the box. You can add up to 100 photos per batch. To try the tool first, click “Try a sample photo”.
  2. Open the “Output size” menu and pick “Square, 2000 × 2000 px” (our default), “Square, 1000 × 1000 px (smallest that keeps zoom)” or “Square, 3000 × 3000 px”. For another size, choose “Custom size…” and enter “Width (px)” and “Height (px)”.
  3. For a product on a white or near-white backdrop, keep “Trim white margins and fit the product to 85 %” switched on. It is on by default.
  4. Use the “Whiten a greyish background (white point)” slider if the backdrop is light grey. The default is 250. Move it lower to turn more light colours white. Set it to 255 to turn it off.
  5. Choose “How the photo fits the frame”: “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” or “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)”. If you pick the fill option, set “Crop focus”.
  6. Turn on “Keep each file under” and enter a limit in KB or MB if you need one.
  7. Check each card’s “Original”, “Output size” and “File” sizes, plus any notes. Click “Download” on a single photo, or “Download ZIP (first 10)” when two or more are ready.

“Clear all” empties the list. Every photo is recalculated when you change an option, so you can adjust settings and check the cards again before downloading.

What are the amazon image requirements for a main image?

Amazon’s main image rules, as shown on its help page read on 16 October 2026, ask for a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), the product filling 85% of the image, and one unit of the product with no placeholders or props that are not included. These rules apply to the main image only. Other images on a listing can follow different rules.

What does the 85% product size rule mean in amazon image size?

The rule means the product should take up 85% of the image and sit entirely inside the frame. The tool finds the product as the pixels that are not white. A pixel counts as product when it is not transparent and at least one of its red, green or blue values is below 245. It then crops the empty margin, scales the product to fit inside 85% of the frame and centres it. In one worked example, a product in an 800 × 400 px box on a 2,000 px square frame is drawn at 1,700 × 850 px, centred at x 150, y 575.

Why does 1,000 px matter when resizing a photo for Amazon?

Amazon’s help page says images with 1,000 px or more on the longest side enable zoom. That is why the “Square, 1000 × 1000 px (smallest that keeps zoom)” option exists. The default “Square, 2000 × 2000 px” is our choice, set above that threshold. The “Square, 3000 × 3000 px” option is also offered. Amazon’s limits are 500 px at the minimum and 10,000 px at the maximum on the longest side.

How does the tool make a background white?

The “Whiten a greyish background (white point)” slider sets a threshold from 200 to 255. Every colour value at or above the chosen number becomes 255, so a light grey or near-white backdrop turns pure white. The setting also brightens the whole photo slightly. It does not remove or replace a coloured background, shadows or clutter.

Which file type and colour mode suit an Amazon listing photo?

Amazon’s help page lists JPEG as recommended, with TIFF, PNG and non-animated GIF also accepted. It prefers RGB colour mode and asks for at least 72 dpi. JPEG is the tool’s default file type, and PNG and WebP are also offered. Transparent areas are filled with the chosen “Background colour”, so the output never has transparency. Because the tool cannot shrink PNG files with “Keep each file under”, the limit is not applied to PNG and the tool says so.

Does a photo that passes the white check meet every Amazon content rule?

No. The tool measures the border and product fill of a photo, but it cannot judge Amazon’s content rules, such as one unit of the product, no placeholders and no props. Use your own check against the help page for those.

Frequently asked questions

What is the default amazon image size in this tool?

The default is “Square, 2000 × 2000 px”. This is our own choice, set above Amazon’s 1,000 px zoom threshold. It is not a number Amazon requires.

Does this tool check whether my photo will be accepted by Amazon?

No. The tool resizes and arranges photos. It cannot decide whether a listing will be accepted, approved or ranked. Compare the output with Amazon’s current help page before you upload.

Are my photos uploaded when I use the tool?

No. Photos are read and processed inside your browser and are never uploaded. There is no sign-up, and the tool is free.

Does the tool remove a coloured background?

No. The white point slider only turns light colours at or above the chosen value into pure white. It does not remove or replace coloured backgrounds, shadows or clutter.

Why was my photo enlarged, and does that affect quality?

The card shows the percentage when a photo is enlarged to reach the output size. An enlarged photo has no extra detail, so the sharpness of the original limits the result. Use a larger original where you can.

Does the saved file keep the camera, date and location data?

No. Saving through the tool writes a new file without the original’s EXIF data, which includes the camera, date and location.
