This page gives you a free tool for preparing photos at the depop photo size you choose, up to 100 photos per batch. Depop’s app help pages we could reach state no pixel size. Its partner API reference shows a returned picture at 1280 × 1280, so the square 1280 × 1280 px option is our default, not a Depop rule.

The tool runs in your browser. Photos are read and processed inside the page and are never uploaded, the tool is free, and it needs no sign-up. Depop’s partner API reference allows a product 1 to 8 pictures, and the first picture is used as the main product image in search results. These figures come from Depop’s pages as we read them on 16 October 2026.

How to use the depop photo size tool

  1. Click “Choose photos”, or drop your files onto the box. You can add up to 100 photos per batch. To try the tool first, click “Try a sample photo”.
  2. Open the “Output size” menu and choose “Square, 1280 × 1280 px (our default)”. To use another size, choose “Custom size…” and enter a value in “Width (px)” and “Height (px)”.
  3. Tick “Never enlarge small photos” if you do not want small photos scaled up.
  4. Under “How the photo fits the frame”, choose “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” or “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)”.
  5. If you chose the fill option, pick a “Crop focus” of Centre, Top, Bottom, Left or Right.
  6. Choose a file type. JPEG is the default, and PNG and WebP are also offered.
  7. If you need a file size limit, enter a number under “Keep each file under” and choose KB or MB.
  8. Check each photo card for its “Original” size, “Output size”, “File” size and any notes or checks.
  9. Click “Download” on each card. When two or more photos are ready, “Download ZIP (first 10)” saves the first 10 results in one file.

“Clear all” empties the list so you can start a new batch. The “file name pattern” setting accepts the tokens {name}, {n}, {lot} and {w}, {h}, which stand for the original name, position, lot number and output size.

What does the depop photo size guide actually confirm?

Depop’s partner API reference confirms two things: a product takes between 1 and 8 pictures, and the first picture becomes the main image in search results. It also shows a returned picture at 1280 × 1280, but that is an example in a response, not a stated upload rule. Depop’s app help pages we could reach give no pixel size, so the 1280 × 1280 px option in this tool is our default.

The partner API reference applies to sellers who list in bulk through the API, not to the app’s upload screen. The tool’s own check that flags more than 8 photos in a batch uses that same API number, and the app may differ.

How does the tool fit a photo into a square frame?

The tool offers two fitting modes. “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” scales the whole photo to fit inside the frame and fills the spare space with bars. For example, a 4,032 × 3,024 px photo in a 1,280 × 1,280 px frame is drawn at 1,280 × 960 px, with 160 px bars above and below.

“Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)” keeps the largest square that fits the photo and scales it to the frame. “Crop focus” decides which part is kept. A 3,024 × 4,032 px photo with “Top” focus keeps a 3,024 × 3,024 px area starting at x 0, y 0, then scales it to 1,280 × 1,280 px. A 1,000 × 1,000 px photo in “Keep the whole photo” mode is drawn at 1,280 × 1,280 px with no bars.

Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you chose, so the output never has transparency. The tool does not remove or replace backgrounds, and it does not change colours beyond that fill.

Why does the tool enlarge some photos, and how do I stop it?

When a photo is smaller than the output size, the tool enlarges it. An enlarged photo has no extra detail, so the card states the enlargement as a percentage. Tick “Never enlarge small photos” to keep small photos at their original size.

Why does the file size change, and what does “Keep each file under” do?

“Keep each file under” lowers JPEG or WebP quality until the file fits. If quality alone is not enough, the tool shrinks the pixels in steps. PNG files cannot be shrunk this way, so the tool does not apply the limit to PNG and says so on the card.

Saving through the tool also writes a new file without the original’s camera, date and location (EXIF) data. Photos with an EXIF rotation are drawn the right way up.

Read on 16 October 2026. Platforms change their rules; the platform's own page decides. This is the API for partners who list in bulk, not the app’s upload screen. It is the only Depop page we found that states a number. Where a row says the platform does not state a size, the pixel size offered in the tool is our own default, not a rule.

Frequently asked questions

Is 1280 × 1280 px the official Depop photo size?

No. It is our default in the “Output size” menu. Depop’s partner API reference shows a returned picture at 1280 × 1280, but its app help pages we could reach state no pixel size.

How many photos can a Depop listing have?

Depop’s partner API reference allows a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 8 pictures per product. The tool flags more than 8 photos in a batch, which is an API number, and the app may differ.

Which photo does Depop use in search results?

The partner API reference says the first picture is used as the main product image in search results. Put the photo you want shown first in the batch.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs in your browser, and photos are read and processed inside the page and are never uploaded. It is free and needs no sign-up.

Can I use HEIC photos from my iPhone?

HEIC photos from an iPhone may not open outside Safari. If yours does not, export it as JPEG first.

Does the tool remove or replace the background?

No. It does not remove or replace backgrounds and does not edit colours beyond filling transparent areas with the background colour you choose.

Is there a paid version?

The tool is free. The free ZIP holds the first 10 results. Whole-batch ZIPs are a planned Pro feature, and nothing paid exists yet.
