Facebook Marketplace Photo Size
Meta publishes no photo size for Marketplace. Resize a batch to a clean square or keep each photo's shape.

How to use the Facebook Marketplace Photo Size tool
- Click “Choose photos” or drop your files on the box. One batch holds up to 100 photos. To try the tool first, click “Try a sample photo” instead.
- Open the “Output size” menu. Pick “Square, 1200 × 1200 px (our default)” or “Keep the shape, longest side 1600 px”. For other numbers, choose “Custom size…” and enter Width (px) and Height (px).
- Under “How the photo fits the frame”, choose “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” or “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)”.
- If you chose the fill option, set “Crop focus” to Centre, Top, Bottom, Left or Right.
- Turn on “Never enlarge small photos” if you do not want small photos stretched to the output size.
- Choose a file type: JPEG (the default), PNG or WebP.
- Optionally, set “Keep each file under” in KB or MB. This does not apply to PNG files.
- Optionally, type a file name pattern using {name}, {n}, {lot}, {w} or {h}.
- Check each card for its “Original” size, “Output size”, “File” size and any notes.
- Click “Download” on a single card, or click “Download ZIP (first 10)” when two or more photos are ready.
Changing any option recalculates every photo. Use “Clear all” to empty the list and start a new batch.
What photo size should I use for facebook marketplace photos?
Facebook’s Marketplace help page does not state a pixel size, so there is no official number to copy. The sizes in this tool are our own defaults: square 1200 × 1200 px, or a shape-keeping longest side of 1600 px. A consistent size is not a Facebook requirement.
Does Facebook Marketplace publish a photo requirement?
No. The help page we read on 16 October 2026 gives no pixel size, file size or number of photos. The table on this page lists the pixel size and the number of photos as not stated.
How does Meta use the photos in my listing?
Meta may choose the cover photo from your listing photos. It may also enhance listing photos and videos. Neither step is controlled by this tool, so it helps to think about the whole set of photos, not just the first one.
How does the tool fit a photo into the frame?
With “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)”, the full photo stays visible and empty space is added around it. A 4,032 × 3,024 photo in a 1,200 × 1,200 frame is drawn at 1,200 × 900 px, with 150 px bars above and below.
With “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)”, the tool keeps the part of the photo that fits the frame and cuts off the rest. The “Crop focus” setting decides which part is kept. For the same 4,032 × 3,024 photo, the centre option keeps a 3,024 × 3,024 px area starting at x 504, y 0, then scales it to 1,200 × 1,200 px.
With “Keep the shape, longest side 1600 px”, the same photo becomes 1,600 × 1,200 px.
Why does a photo look soft after it is enlarged?
An enlarged photo has no extra detail, so it can look softer than the original. When a photo is enlarged to reach the output size, its card shows the increase as a percentage. “Never enlarge small photos” keeps small photos at their original size.
Why is the file size limit not applied to PNG files?
The “Keep each file under” setting works by lowering the JPEG or WebP quality until the file fits. If quality alone is not enough, it shrinks the pixels in steps. PNG files cannot be reduced this way, so the limit is not applied to them, and the tool says so on the card.

Frequently asked questions
Is there an official facebook marketplace photo size?
Not on the Marketplace help page we read on 16 October 2026. That page states no pixel size, file size or photo count. The default sizes in this tool are our own working choices.
What is the default output size in this tool?
The default is “Square, 1200 × 1200 px (our default)”. The other preset is “Keep the shape, longest side 1600 px”. You can also enter your own numbers with “Custom size…”.
Does the tool upload my photos?
No. Photos are read and processed inside your browser and are never uploaded. The tool is free and needs no sign-up.
Does the tool remove or replace backgrounds?
No. It does not remove or replace backgrounds. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose, so the output never has transparency.
Does saving a photo remove its camera and location data?
Yes. Saving through the tool writes a new file without the original’s camera, date and location (EXIF) data.
Why won’t my iPhone HEIC photos open?
HEIC photos from an iPhone may not open outside Safari. If yours does not, export it as JPEG first.
Does Facebook say how many photos a Marketplace listing can have?
Not on the help page we read. It says Meta may choose the cover photo from your listing photos and may enhance listing photos and videos.
