Shopify Banner Size
Shopify has no one banner size. Enter your theme section's size, or use the brand-assets cover size, and crop to it.

How to use this tool
- Click “Choose photos” or drop your files onto the box. You can add up to 100 photos per batch. To try the tool first, click “Try a sample photo”.
- Open the “Output size” menu. The first option, “Brand-assets cover image, 1920 × 1080 px”, is this tool’s default. It matches Shopify’s recommended minimum for the brand assets cover, not a banner size.
- For a theme banner or slideshow, choose “Custom size…” and type your section’s size into “Width (px)” and “Height (px)”. Check your theme’s own documentation for that number.
- Under “How the photo fits the frame”, choose “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” or “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)”.
- If you chose the fill option, pick a “Crop focus”: Centre, Top, Bottom, Left or Right.
- Tick “Never enlarge small photos” if you do not want small photos stretched.
- Choose a file type. JPEG is the default; PNG and WebP are also offered. If you need a limit, set “Keep each file under” in KB or MB. This limit does not apply to PNG files, and the tool says so.
- Check each card for “Original”, “Output size”, “File” size and any notes. Then click “Download” on a single photo, or click “Download ZIP (first 10)” when two or more photos are ready.
To empty the list and start again, click “Clear all”.
What is the shopify banner size?
There is no single shopify banner size. Shopify’s theme images page, read 16 October 2026, says the banner size depends on the theme and its version, so the right size is the one your theme’s section uses.
Match the shape of your image to the shape of the section. A wide banner needs a wide image. A tall or square section needs a picture with that shape. Read the theme’s own documentation for the exact pixel size.
How does Shopify crop a banner image?
Slideshow, image banner and full-width sections show images in a fixed-shape area and crop to fit. If your photo has a different shape from that area, the edges that do not fit are cut off. Some of your photo will not appear on the page.
This is why a shape match matters more than a large file. The tool’s “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)” option works the same way: it keeps as much of the frame as possible and cuts off the rest, and “Crop focus” chooses which part is kept. The option “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” keeps every part of the photo and adds bars instead.
Shopify also says images used for slideshows or backgrounds should not have text in them. Add text in the theme editor instead.
What is the shopify logo size?
Shopify’s pages give two logo sizes. For the default logo, the file must be PNG or JPEG and at least 512 px wide. For the square logo, Shopify recommends at least 512 × 512 px. Both figures come from the platform’s pages, read 16 October 2026.
The Output size menu offers “Square logo, 512 × 512 px”. Use it only if your logo is square. The square logo option makes the frame square, so pick “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” if you do not want the logo cut off.
What is the shopify collection image size?
The facts for this tool do not give a collection image size, so this tool cannot give you one. Check your theme’s own documentation for the size its collection images use, and then enter it with “Custom size…”.

Frequently asked questions
Is there one shopify banner size?
No. Shopify says the banner size depends on your theme and its version. Use the size that your theme’s banner section uses, and enter it with “Custom size…”.
Does the tool upload my photos?
No. Photos are read and processed inside your browser and are never uploaded. The tool needs no sign-up and is free.
Can I put text on a banner image?
Shopify says images used for slideshows or backgrounds should not have text in them. Add your text in the theme editor instead. This tool does not add or edit text.
Why does my photo look cropped?
Your photo probably has a different shape from the frame. Choose “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” to see the full image, or use “Crop focus” with the fill option to choose which part stays.
Does the tool remove or replace backgrounds?
No. The tool does not remove or replace backgrounds. Transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose, so the output never has transparency.
Why is my PNG file still large?
The “Keep each file under” limit cannot shrink PNG files, so it is not applied to them, and the tool says so on the card. Choose JPEG or WebP if you need the limit to work.
