This whatnot photo size tool resizes a batch of product photos for Whatnot listings, runs in your browser, and is free with no sign-up. Whatnot’s help pages that we read on 16 October 2026 do not state a pixel size. The 1,200 × 1,200 px square is our own default, not a Whatnot rule, and the 1,600 px longest-side option is also ours. Photos are read and processed inside the page and are never uploaded. You can set one group of options for the whole batch, print lot numbers on each photo, set a file size limit, and download the results. Whatnot asks for photos of the actual item, so the tool changes only size and layout; it cannot check what a photo shows.

How to use the Whatnot Photo Size tool

  1. Click “Choose photos” or drop your files on the box. You can add up to 100 photos per batch. To try the tool first, click “Try a sample photo”.
  2. Open the “Output size” menu. “Square, 1200 × 1200 px (our default)” is our default, not a Whatnot rule. For a shape that keeps your photo’s proportions, choose “Keep the shape, longest side 1600 px”. For your own dimensions, choose “Custom size…” and enter Width (px) and Height (px).
  3. Set “How the photo fits the frame”. Choose “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)” to keep everything visible, or “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)”. With the fill option, pick a “Crop focus” of Centre, Top, Bottom, Left or Right.
  4. Tick “Never enlarge small photos” if you do not want small originals stretched.
  5. Optional: tick “Print a number on each photo”. Set “Text before the number”, “First number”, “Step”, “Digits”, “Position”, “Text size (% of the short side)” and “Style”. Numbers follow the order of the list.
  6. Optional: enter a “Keep each file under” limit in KB or MB. PNG files cannot be shrunk this way, so the limit is not applied to PNG.
  7. Choose a file type. JPEG is the default; PNG and WebP are also offered.
  8. Check each card’s “Original”, “Output size” and “File” sizes, plus any notes.
  9. Click “Download” on a card, or “Download ZIP (first 10)” once two or more photos are ready. Use “Clear all” to empty the list.

What size should Whatnot photos be?

Whatnot’s listing guidelines and its create-listing page do not state a pixel size, as of 16 October 2026. The 1,200 × 1,200 px square and the 1,600 px longest-side option in this tool are our own sizes, not platform rules.

What do Whatnot’s photo rules actually require?

Listings need photos of the item you are selling, and stock photos alone are not permitted. Stock images may not be used for used, damaged or defective items. At least one photo must show the whole item and its condition, without blurring, cropping or obstruction. Resizing does not change what a photo shows, and this tool cannot check those rules for you, so take clear photos of the item before you resize them.

How does a photo fit a square frame?

With “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)”, the full picture is drawn inside the frame and the spare space is left as bars. A 4,032 × 3,024 photo in a 1,200 × 1,200 frame is drawn at 1,200 × 900 px, with 150 px bars above and below. A 3,024 × 4,032 photo is drawn at 900 × 1,200 px, with 150 px bars left and right. Any transparent area is filled with the chosen background colour, so the output never has transparency.

“Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)” removes the edges instead, which can cut off part of the item. If a small photo has to be enlarged to reach the output size, its card shows the percentage. An enlarged photo has no extra detail.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a Whatnot photo be?

Whatnot’s help pages we read on 16 October 2026 do not give a pixel size. The square 1,200 × 1,200 px output in this tool is our default, so use it as a starting point, not as a Whatnot requirement.

Does this tool upload my photos?

No. Photos are read and processed inside the browser and are never uploaded. The tool is free and needs no sign-up.

Can I put lot numbers on my photos?

Yes. Tick “Print a number on each photo” and set the text, starting number, step, digits, position, text size and style. The numbers follow the order of the list.

Why does the tool add bars around my photo?

With “Keep the whole photo (add background around it)”, the whole photo is kept and the empty space is filled with bars. Switch to “Fill the frame (cut off the overflow)” if you prefer the photo to fill the frame, but check the result because edges will be cut off.

Will Whatnot accept my photos after I resize them?

This tool does not check listings against Whatnot’s rules, and no output from it is guaranteed to be accepted. Whatnot requires photos of the actual item, with the whole item and its condition clearly visible.

Does the tool remove or change the background?

No. The tool does not remove or replace backgrounds and does not edit colours. It fills transparent areas with the chosen background colour so the output has no transparency.
